30 Day Challenge - October 2014

Fashion, fashion, fashion... where do I begin?

Unlike most girls my age, I have never leaped into the fashion world. I could blame it on the fact that I have never had excess time or money (I still don't) to spend on fashion, but I do not believe that's a good excuse. The sad part is, I have never truly explored my own personal style. Instead, I have tried to do the 'responsible' thing by spending my money on work clothes (such as cardigans and blouses) and just pair it with jeans to make it my night and weekend style.

Last night I attended a Neiman Marcus fashion show, here in Grand Rapids, and it was the fabulous event I have ever been a part of. I was truly inspired by the risk and reward in fashion, the empowerment it brings to your look and perception, the ever-changing styles that come and go, and the feeling of being a part of something bigger than myself. Even learning this fall's fashion trends was so exciting while watching the models in their perfectly matched outfits thinking, could I pull that off? Well, I want to try!

It is my 30 day challenge to clean my closet of old styles, clothes that I don't love anymore / don't fit anymore and take the time and money to try new styles. I will be leaning on Pinterest, my very fashionable hubby, and my girlfriends to find new threads. The fun part is that I will be able to include you in my journey through posts on my blog. Can't wait!

Here are a few fall fashion tips I learned from the lead stylist of Neiman Marcus:
  • This fall's color is sangria
  • Plaid is IN!
  • 50 shades of grey - mix and match different shades of grey to make the perfect outfit
  • Animal prints never goes out of style
  • Mix your fabrics, try satin and velvet
  • Ankle boots are so hot right now
  • Moto Jackets
Hopefully, I will be able to try all these trends over the next month!
