2016 CycloFemme

This year, I was a proud participant in the Annual CycloFemme Ride. If you haven’t heard of CycloFemme yet, you’re not alone, I only recently heard about this event. CycloFemme is a global Women’s Cycling day to celebrate women in the cycling industry and empower the future for women in this sport. Every Mother’s Day, local bike shops and organizations from around the world plan and host these rides in major cities to gather local women and ride. In Minneapolis, the bike brand Surly took the reins and went above and beyond with a bikepacking trip for the women of Minneapolis. Over 35 women gathered together and rode 20+ miles into the woods to celebrate this day and our love of cycling. We had an incredible 24 hours together meeting other women from around our city and community who love to ride. What an awesome experience and thanks again to Surly Bikes for making this happen!

"Let me tell you what I think of bicycling. I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a wheel…the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood.”
